Your Copilot ROI is probably not hiding in your prompt library.
It is hiding in your workflows.
The handover that takes too long.
The meeting notes that never become actions.
The status update copied into three different places.
The report rebuilt every week.
The information buried across emails, chats and documents.
That is where Copilot can create real operational value.
Not by making one person slightly faster at writing.
By reducing the repeated admin drag that slows whole teams down.
This is the gap in a lot of Copilot training.
It teaches people what to ask.
But not where Copilot should fit into the way work actually moves.
Giving employees Copilot licences does not automatically improve productivity. Without workflow-focused training, many people use Copilot like a smarter search bar or writing assistant. They ask isolated questions, get mixed results and miss the bigger opportunity.
For Operations Managers, the practical gains should show up as:
- faster handovers
- shorter meeting follow-up cycles
- clearer action lists
- less duplicated work
- more consistent reporting
- reduced dependency on one person’s memory
A simple starting point:
Ask your team to identify the 10 recurring tasks that create the most admin drag.
Then ask:
- Can Copilot help us prepare this faster?
- Summarise it better?
- Draft it more consistently?
- Find the right information sooner?
- Check or refine the output before it is shared?
That is a better starting point than a prompt library.
Because Copilot ROI is not about better prompts.
It is about better workflows.
I have put together a Microsoft Copilot Cheat Sheet with practical ideas for everyday use. If useful, download Part 1 and use it as a starting point for your own workflow review.
